Schools as a Bridge to the Real World

Aintzane and Amaia (Gernika BHI) and the Key Role of Schools

In many cases, schools are the setting where young people’s decisions about their future are shaped, and the role of teachers is essential in guiding transformative projects.

At Gernika BHI High School, Amaia Gorostitzaga (math teacher) and Aintzane Egurrola (technology teacher) have spent a decade coordinating and promoting Inspira STEAM in their classrooms.

Their work demonstrates how the program brings the world of work and professional life directly into the school setting, creating a valuable space where students feel free and empowered to express their opinions, challenge stereotypes, and explore scientific and technological disciplines.

Although the sessions take up only a few hours of the school year, their impact on students’ mindsets is profound and lasting.

With the start of the new 2026–2027 school year approaching, they invite new schools to join Inspira STEAM and open their doors to this enriching experience.
