What is Inspira STEAM?
Inspira STEAM is a pioneering project whose aim is to encourage interest in science and technology among young people, especially girls. It is based on awareness-raising and guidance actions given by women, and also men, professionals from the world of research, science and technology. This is the first time that group mentoring is used in a project to promote STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Maths) among primary school students.
The heart of our project are the mentors who, on a voluntary basis, bring their day-to-day lives closer to girls and boys through six work sessions during school hours. All these people are professionals in science and technology who work in different fields: academia, business, research, management, etc.
The keys to the project
- We want to provide new REFERENCES of women scientists and technologists close to us.
- Let boys and girls discover STEAM PROFESSIONS.
- To raise awareness of the need for development to take place between men and women, to value the richness of DIVERSITY.
- SENSITIZE and provide guidance on science and technology studies.
- VISIBILISING and highlighting the STEAM women of history, those of today and those close to us.
- To raise awareness of the existing STEREOTYPES in these areas so that they do not condition the decisions of girls and boys.
Inspira STEAM Manifest
In 2017 we launched the Inspira STEAM Manifest, which is a commitment by the people and organisations that adhere to it to work actively for equality between women and men in the scientific-technological field.
