The COIIB celebrates International Women’s Day

At COIIB, we enthusiastically celebrated International Women in Engineering Day on Monday with a day full of inspiration, dialogue, and commitment to a more equal future.

The conference sought to highlight the role of women in the industrial sector, promote equal opportunities, and reduce the gender gap, where currently only 24.6% of people employed in industry in the Basque Country are women.

Aintzane Conde, member of the Commission and lecturer at the Faculty of Engineering of the University of Deusto, moderated the second panel, which included the following participants: Ana Andueza, president of PWN Bilbao and vice president of the Novia Salcedo Foundation; Itziar Epalza, general director of the Basque Technology Park; and Mari Luz Guenaga, lecturer and researcher at the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Deusto, head of the Inspira STEAM program. The conversation addressed the barriers that still exist to accessing leadership positions and effective strategies for attracting and retaining female talent in the business world.
